About Staff Assembly

Who We Are

What is Staff Assembly?

UCR Staff Assembly is a volunteer organization made up of staff employees at the University of California, Riverside and a branch of the Council of University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA). It is sanctioned by the chancellor and granted authority by the regents to serve as an advisory body to the chancellor on staff matters, as applicable by law. It is neither represented by a collective-bargaining agent, nor does it act as a collective-bargaining unit.

Consisting of an executive board and several sub-committees, Staff Assembly's purpose is to promote the interests of staff, provide opportunities for personal and professional development, and to foster communication among staff, faculty and students.

Staff Assembly is often asked to provide the voice of non-represented employees for important issues that affect our workplace and our lives.

Who is in Staff Assembly?

If you are a staff employee at the University of California, Riverside, then you are already a member of Staff Assembly and are welcome to attend our regular general meetings and social events.

Who Pays for Staff Assembly?

Staff Assembly is funded through a generous allocation from the Office of the Chancellor, donations from our staff members, as well as corporate and organizational sponsors.

Are there Staff Assemblies at Other UCs?

Yes, there are Staff Assemblies at each of the 10 campuses, as well as the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and the UC Office of the President. Each of these sends a pair of representatives to the system-wide Council of UC Staff Assemblies, better known as CUCSA. CUCSA holds quarterly meetings that rotate between the 12 locations.

Other Staff Advocates: Staff Advisors to the UC Regents

In January 2007, the UC Regents established two staff advisor positions to participate in the deliberative process and to provide a staff perspective.  The Staff Advisors make every effort to avail themselves to you through campus visits, presentations at system wide staff forums, release of topical reports, via their respective email addresses, and by constantly updating the site with new information.
