Get Recognized Award Recipient for December 2017

Ana Coria – Undocumented Student Programs

Ana

"This Get Recognized entry is to proudly showcase Ana's time and commitment to the UCR Staff Assembly and all UCR staff.

Ana Coria, Coordinator for Undocumented Student Programs, has gone above and beyond this quarter to support a newly created partnership with the Career Center. During the Summer of 2017, Ana worked diligently to support the launching of a pilot program called the Butterfly Project. While it has been a collaborative effort, Ana has gone above and beyond to organize our content for the project, streamlining tasks, creating a website for the course, proposing ideas specific to student needs. The Butterfly project is unique in that it places students in a service (internship like) with campus partners and offers students a $1,000 scholarship at the time of completion. Ana did a phenomenal job by getting campus partners on board and orchestrating distribution of funds for our students.

Ana took the lead in coordinating forum for staff and faculty in response to the Trump Administration to effectively end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The news took a toll on students at UCR and Ana continued to go above and beyond her duty. She led campus forum response to the news, shared resources with staff, and in the midst of all, continued to diligently plan and lift the spirit of staff and students to continue with to pilot Butterfly project in the Fall. She has taken initiative not only across campus but also in the partnerships with campus departments. Given the bandwidth of the Career Center, it would have been a huge undertaking to coordinate for this new initiative. Ana has definitely listened to the students and staff while sharing great optimism for the future.

With grateful hearts and appreciation, we thank Ana Coria today for her contributions to the UCR Staff Assembly!
