Staff Emergency Assistance Requests

The Staff Emergency Assistance Program is intended to help staff members cope with unforeseen financial challenges and hardships. The program offers up to $100 in grocery or gas gift cards per employee per fiscal year.  Direct cash assistance is not provided through this program.

Please note that this program is intended to help those in extraordinary circumstances and not as an augment to a regular salary.

How to Apply for Staff Assistance

Staff members applying for assistance from Staff Assembly must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a UCR career appointment staff member who has completed the probationary period.
  • Must provide a valid employee identification number.

Applicants should clearly and specifically provide details of the nature of the financial challenge the are facing, explain why they are requesting assistance and how this fund will assist them, and detail any other financial adjustments that have been made. The board reserves the right to ask for additional information.

Requests are generally reviewed by the Staff Assembly Board twice per month during regular meetings.

While all requests will be considered, priority may be given to applicants who have not previously received assistance. The Assistance Program fund is limited and receives many requests each year. As a result, Staff Assembly may not fully fund or fulfill all requests.

All requests are kept confidential
