Emergency Assistance for Staff

The Staff Assembly Assistance Program is intended to help staff members cope with unforeseen challenges and hardships by providing qualifying individuals with financial assistance in the form of gas and/or grocery store gift cards. The maximum amount of assistance is limited to a value of up to $100 per employee, per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).

Please note that this program is intended to help those in extraordinary circumstances and not as an augmentation to regular salary. Direct cash assistance is not provided through this program.

If you have encountered a financial hardship due to COVID-19, please consider applying for the UCR COVID-19 Employee Emergency Fund. You may learn more about the fund by visiting here and may apply here

How to Apply for Staff Assistance

The Staff Assembly Assistance Request Form may be completed online.

Please be as specific as possible in describing your need for assistance. Requests are generally reviewed once per month, September through June. The Staff Assembly Board will carefully and compassionately review each request and prioritize assistance according to the level of need. While details of the request will be shared with the board, personal and identifying information will be kept confidential.

Eligibility Requirements

Staff members applying for assistance from Staff Assembly must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a UCR career appointment staff member who has completed the probationary period.
  • Must provide a valid employee identification number.

The program fund is limited and receives many requests each year. As a result, Staff Assembly may not fully fund or fulfill all requests.

While all requests will be given due consideration, priority may be given to applicants who have not previously received assistance, either through this program or through other Staff Assembly activities such as food/holiday drives.
