Vision "Many Talents, One Mission"

Creating a staff environment where staff are empowered, valued, and supported, contributing to a thriving university.

Values

Staff Assembly’s values include staff volunteerism, advocacy, shared governance, diversity, equity, partnership, ethical and responsible stewardship, accountability and transparency, and sustainability and excellence in the organization's operations, programs, and services.

Our commitment and purpose in values include:

  • Advocacy

Through collaboration and open dialogue among staff, administration, UCR, and the UC system, we ensure that every voice is heard and valued.

  • Professional Growth

Keeping staff informed, connected, and recognized both within UCR and across the UC system. The Annual Staff Conference and Brunch & Learns, create pathways for staff to enhance their skills, helping them thrive as vital members of one of the most dynamic and impactful campuses in the UC system.

  • Shared Governance

Through partnerships with CUCSA, LEAD, and affinity groups, staff are empowered to play a role in shaping university policies and initiatives.

  • Sustainability and Excellence

Fostering a culture of responsible stewardship, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring initiatives have a lasting, positive impact on the UCR community. Peer recognition programs and collaborative partnerships with LEAD and UCR affinity groups support the university's long-term success and growth.

Annual Goals

  • Hold quarterly meetings during which we collaborate with Human Resources and the Office of the Chancellor to recognize the service credit milestones of UCR employees. All career staff employees are members and are invited to attend Staff Assembly events.
  • Increase the visibility and presence of the Staff Assembly through more frequent meetings with upper administration and presentations to relevant meetings.
  • Secure commitments from senior management and department heads to provide release time for career staff to significantly increase attendance at all staff assembly events.
  • Increase the support of Staff Assembly through additional volunteers, volunteer hours, staff payroll deduction and donations.
  • Refocus Staff Assembly finances so that successful events impact the largest number of staff members in the most exciting ways.
  • Improve communication to staff in all areas of the university through targeted marketing programs and intentional conversations with department heads.
  • Increase fundraising through a multitude of avenues so that Staff Assembly can begin to move towards becoming a self-sustaining organization.
  • Connect with other campus staff assemblies to discuss best practices and learn about new programs and activities.
